Brown Paper and String

simplicity-1209562-1600x1200

My nana wrapped packages and presents in plain brown paper and simple string. No fancy colorful bows or ribbons, nor tape holding elaborate wrapping paper together, just paper and string. The simplicity of her presentation made them stand out above even the most decorated and beautifully wrapped present.

My nana taught me many things, but her simple wrapping taught me life’s beautiful gifts come in simple packages, and that what is on the outside doesn’t always count. In a world where we are brainwashed with the perception that we must be beautiful and a size zero, or our home must resemble that from one of those magazine spreads,  I find the recollection of her simple packaging a reminder that I am beautiful as I am, and sometimes simple is better.

This blog is for me, to share my thoughts. I struggle with being a woman, a mother, a wife, and a friend. I struggle with my weight, exercise, family issues, my marriage, in fact just about everything. I want to share with the world and make it a better place; but from behind my computer screen. Blogging allows me that luxury.
